Newtown River Barbeque

Saturday 7th August 2010

A brisk South Westerly wind on Saturday made it a difficult choice for the Seal 22’s who had indicated that they would venture from Chichester harbour.

However as the day progressed boats gradually started to appear and by 7pm there was a good crowd gathered on the shingle bank close to the entrance. It was good to welcome Geoff Sheddick the new owner of Stroller who had sailed up with his daughter. We had a convivial evening as the wind died down, before making our way back to our moored boats replete on barbequed sausages and wine.

The following morning saw the Poole Harbour contingent make an early start to catch the tide in very light airs then later the boats joining Martin Hopton’s mid week cruise headed for the Medina on the afternoon tide and by then a filling breeze. Baldur and Harlequin cruised back to Chichester with a soldiers wind in company in glorious sunshine.

Boats attending were Baldur HR310, Harlequin P27, Stroller P27, Heart of Glass SS26, Ariel SS26, Zephyr P235, Zephyr Westerly Centaur.
