Ashlett Creek rally
Saturday 25th August 2012

Report and photos by Tim Reeder

We had a good time battling the weather to execute the Ashlett Creek Rally. The Vice Commodore cheated the weather, which had gale 8's about for Saturday, and set off on Thursday!

To everyone’s credit nine boats appeared by water and five crews by land cruiser. We had a very enjoyable meal in the Mill at Ashlett on Saturday night. Many thanks to Ade & Pam Lumb who are members at the sailing club and made life very easy by making us welcome.

Sunday saw some of us depart for the flesh pots of Southampton – ie Ocean Village rather than brave any more boisterous weather. It turned out to be a really good day and another meal was shared chez JD Wetherspoons in Southampton. Again we had land support!

Monday saw us all return safely – hopefully. Speedwell had a very lively sail in a strong southerly, which blew any cobwebs away.

Many thanks to all who took part.
