The Laying Up Lunch
The Ferryman, Warsash, 23 November 2014

It was an 'action replay' at the Ferryman again this year for the Laying Up lunch. With numbers down to 52 and the room revamped there seemed much more room than in previous years. Members arrived from as far afield as Wales and Scotland. Pegasus managed to sail back from Cowes to Langstone in the pouring rain and still made it for the first course. The only downside was that the date was a week later than normal and our event clashed with Lewis Hamilton trying to win the F1 world championship at the same time.

The 'stuffing party' were in the vanguard and had all newsletters packed before the arrival of the main party at 12 noon.

It was paté or prawn cocktail for starters and beef, pork or lamb with all the trimmings for main course. If you ordered lemon meringue pie for dessert then you were not so lucky this time as the alternative was an excellent plate of cheese and biscuits. Coffee was served with mint chocolates together with a few words from our Commodore highlighting the AGM to be held at Harwich and other events planned for next year. The proceedings concluded with Carol organising a free raffle.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all and we look forward to even better sailing weather in 2014.
