This is a bit of a secret and is one of, if not the best drying location for lifting boats in the south of England.

The beach is all sand when exposed. It is only accessible in the three to four hours around high tide. At lower tide levels it is steep and a bit muddy. On a sunny day though when anchored on it the white sand makes it very attractive.

In good weather the beach is well used at its eastern end by members of HISC and their children with paddle boards and Oppies etc. If you keep to the western end there is plenty of space without interfering with club activities. HISC are very welcoming to visiting yachtsmen and if you sign in the club facilities and fantastic balcony views are available.

There is very good shelter with winds south of east round to the west.  It is not so good with the wind from the north or east unless the wind is pretty calm

You approach from the north winding everything up till you touch. Assuming winds are not from the north you can then drop the main anchor and either sit or rearrange the boat by wading. You can either drop a kedge anchor on the way in or sort out by wading / swimming.

The attached map photo shows the best spot to aim for and the others show Parkers all lined up at the August Bank Holiday 2025.

It is such a good location that I try to keep it a bit of a secret!
