Hi All ( my apologies for the layout but it is the way the text box has changed the layout which was all neat and tidy when I wrote it up ) I have finally managed to get a bus timetable and work out a schedule for this rally, it is not ideal but we are limited to the bus times available which are not as frequent as we enjoyed during the original beer and buses rallies, so you will have to bear with me on this, nonetheless I hope it will wet you appetities and will look forward to seeing you all. I have not made a booking at newport, they don't seem to need booking but I have made a booking for an evening meal on Saturday at 7pm at the Bargemans rest so i will need to know who is coming and how many, for that, by the latest Thursday 28th September
The schedule is based on Seals being able to arrive on Friday but there is a small correction for thos who cannot arrive till Saturday, at the end of the schedule. The Saturday run will all be on the No 7 bus from the bus terminal. 1045 -1051 Newport to Carrisbrook Waverley Hotel - ale 1121 - 1130 Carrisbrook to Calbourne Sun Inn - ale 1230 - 1301 Calbourne to Freshwater Lion Inn/The Vine - Lunch and more ale! 1409 - 1436 Freshwater to Shalfleet New Inn - ale 1536 - 1549 Shalfleet to Carrisbrook Eight Bells - ale 1649 - 1659 Carrisbrook to Newport
1800 drinks and nibbles on the pontoon alongside FRITH before heading to the Bargemans Rest at 1900 for evening meal.
For those who cannot make it till Satuday, HW Cowes is 1224 so you should be able to arrive by 0930~1000 and so you should be able to make the 1115 to Calbourne which will be the same bus that the rest of us will be on going to Calbourne, otherwise the 1145 bus all the way to Freshwater arriving at 1231 but you will then have a longer time in Freshwater as the rest of us will not be arriving till 1301. you could of course wait till the 1215 bus which will be the one the rest of us will be on, arriving all together.
On Sunday the schedule is as follows , using the No 3 bus out bound and the No 2 bus inbound 1005 -1017 Newport to Rookley Chequers Inn - ale 1047 - 1053 Rookley to Godshill Griffin or Taverner Inn - ale 1123 - 1151 Godshill to Bonchurchchute Bonchurch Inn - lunch and ale (only an hour) 1251 -1324 Bonchurch to Sandown 9 different pubs to choose from perhaps a pub crawl but for those who need to leave on Sunday the No 2 bus runs every half hour at H+:05 and +:35 back to Newport until the last bus at 1804, taking between 50 minutes to an hour. so the earliest back to Newport would be 1335 arriving at Newport at 1430 with time to depart, the HW Cowes for Sunday being 1303 so say no later than 2 hours after HW. For those that are happy to stay till Monday, you should be able to depart from around 1000 with HW for Monday being 1343 at Cowes. IMPORTANT Could those wishing to attend, please email me directly with head count as it appears the website is not allowing the number of people attending to be shown.
I forgot to mention the ticket arrangements for those unfortunate ( or fortunate enough ) to be under bus pass age. Vectis bus does not do a weekend pass which is annoying, but they do a 24 hour ticket which costs £10.50 for adults which is quite expensive I believe or 48 hour passes for £15 which is still a bit onerous but if folks can organise thremselves into groups of five, they do a group rate of £29 for 24 hours which works out to £5.90 per day, or if the groups of five are doing both days, they do a 48 hour group ticket for £46 which works out to £9.20 per person. Unfortunately they don't seem to do a pro rata rate for groups larger than five, and I would presume the group would need to board together and not split up. FURTHER ENTRIES FOR THIS EVENT ARE NOW CLOSED
