Hi there,

We have a furling jib, spinnaker, cruising chute and of course the mian sail. I'm wondering what , if any other sails people carry......storm jib perhaps?

Thanks

I often sail single handed in Chichester harbour. I have a furling genoa, but I mostly have the number one jib set on the furler. This so I can see forward. The boat's performance to windward is only slightly less but short tacking up shallow creeks is a lot easier. I also have a number two sized sail which I set on an inner forestay for strong winds.

Cheers! Neil

hello Mairi

I have put a drawing I did of my original sails on my web site, have a look to see if this is of any use.

I think the smaller of the two jibs shown in Mikes' drawing is the 'official' number 1. that is certainly the size of sail I have. Note how high the foot is cut - very easy to see all around! This also ties in with the sail dimensions shown in the handbook. I fitted my number 1 with small mainsail slider bullets instead of piston hanks so that it works on the Rotostay. My number 2 has about 9 sq m, about right for area but I bought it to set on an inner forestay,so it has a slightly different shape to that shown in the handbook. For info, the handbook says the number 2 is 6.86m luff, 5.23m leach and 3.54m foot.
