I am currently doing up my recently purchased Mk1 and have a few questions if anyone is in a position to offer advice.

1) I want to put an anchor chain pipe on the deck but am unsure whether to put it right forward to drop the chain into the very front triangular storage, or to install it further back to drop the chain into the large locker immediately forward of the toilet compartment. Any ideas?

2) Any advice on using the old sea toilet (SL430?). It fills and flushes but I'm not sure if I should be able to be pump it dry.

3) I have fitted a Nasa Duet depth/log but I cannot get the log to read anything at all. I have placed the transducer hole just aft of the toilet and offset from the centreline by a few inches to port, close to and forward of the toilet outlet seacock. The paddle wheel spins freely in air - a few spins gives readings up to 6knts, however when installed it gives no reading. Have I inadvertantly found a dead spot in the water flow under the hull? If so, I would expect erratic readings (on different tacks, in reverse etc) rather than nothing.

All help gratefully received.

My Anchor Chain go's vertical from centre of deck above box directly behind toilet it work's well with my eighty odd feet of chain although I some times need to rock the boat as it stacks.

The only problem is that the tube it runs down in is some times in the way.

My Transducer is located under my right foot when sitting on the toilet and head in the hatch it works well on all tacks.

Ray, thanks for your replies. My log transducer is in the same place as yours - it has now started working since I removed an upper rubber sealing ring so that it pokes a couple of mm further into the water flow.

Meeting up sometime sounds like a good idea but it's a good hike from Chichester Hbr to Portchester (I used to keep a boat in Port Solent). Maybe one for a weekend?
