When we have had a lot of water coming along the deck and we are bashing to windward we get leaks down into the lockers under the small saloon berth on the port side, this is the worst one but we have others!

We think it may be the toe-rail or where the deck joins the hull.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was it and how did you fix it.

Thank you

Mairi

Hi Mairi

I had similar leaks along the toerail, deck fittings, wooden grab rails on the cabin roof and where the chain plates pass through the deck, also the windows seal to the cabin side can leak if the wind is strong enough.

As a temporary cure to the toerail and windows I clean area with alcohol and run a bead of mastic along the edge. The deck fittings can be re-bedded and the chain plates can dig out the old mastic, clean and repack with fresh mastic. I normally use sikaflex on the deck fittings and silicon on the acrylic windows.
