Shockwave intends arriving at Newport on Friday late afternoon and have a get together of any boats that are there about 6pm and a pontoon party on the Saturday at 6:00pm or when people arrive.
On the Friday evening, we want to see a band at the ’Bargemans Rest’.
On Saturday the Bargemans Rest has traditional jazz 13.00 to 1500, which is nicely timed for a short walk to ‘Newport Ale House’ to see ‘Two Wight Guys’ and possibly drink the odd pint.
We are considering paying to see ‘Gary Plumley’s Alley Cats’ at the Quay Arts centre on Saturday evening at 21.30 to 23.30 but there’s obviously time between the above events to have a Pimms party on the pontoon and maybe even snatch a meal…..
June 2nd high tide Newport is at 18:07 (3.80mtr) and on Saturday 3rd June high tide is at 19:11 (3.80mtr.) Sunday 4th morning tide is 07:30 (3.50mtr) to come home.
Newport Harbour is 5Nm upriver from Cowes. The harbour website is on the Isle of Wight council website, its not easy to find but it is very detailed when you do get to it. The harbour tel. is 01983 823 885. Harbour costs are approximately £15 per night. Keys for the facilities are loaned out from the Harbour master.
As always, it’s the skippers responsibility to decide to sail, but feel free to ask any questions.
Julie and Ieuan Stanley 023 8084 4221is our correct number, number is wrong on other ad.
