Hi

Currently I doing a lot of work on the keel which is in a bit of a mess, anti-foul is lumpy and flaking off

I have taken the body of the keel (the aluminium or steel) back to metal and on the wing section removed the flakey debris and exposed several area of metal which is some sort of lead??

Have anyone else done this

What are the metals made of

What should I prime

1/ The keel box with, Is Primacon OK or ??

2/ The wing section, I presume I will have to fill in with epoxy prior to a primer?

The Keel does take a pounding over the year hopefully others have dealt with similar problems

One of those jobs that once you start keeps on going.

Hope to see some at the AGM

Hi Barry

The keel is 316 grade stainless steel and the wing is lead, cast by Irons Brothers of Wadebridge in Cornwall.

Hi Martin

Thanks for that

Do you know if the bolts into the lead and independent of each other, both sides appear at different levels?
