I've just put together an AIS receiver for my 21 for under £150. It comprises a
Quark A023 receiver, a
Glomex VHF splitter and a stabilised 5v power supply. I plan to use it with the Marine Navigator app (Android) which I've used for the last 5 years and am quite happy with.
And it all works!

Costs:
Quark A023 £85
Spitter £56
Power supply £6
Total £147
The app cost about £9, plus another £15 for UK and Ireland charts, and it's all running on a 5 year old Tesco tablet!
