I’ve been looking at Parker 325 what is the metal plate in front of the keel on outside of hull for?

That plate is the mounting for a block of nylon just inside the keel slot which is the forward buffer for the keel.
Marked as "lower hull sliding assembly" on the attached drawing (if it works)
