Is there any reason not to anti-foul the lower part of the engine well?

My boat is in the water all season and the bottom few inches of the engine well get really manky and horrible.

I thought it would make sense to anti-foul this whilst doing the underside, but haven't seen it done elsewhere.

On Gentoo the bottom 2" of the well is antifouled, I've not encountered any issues.
