The handbook which came with Cascada is for a later version of the instrument than the one I have-.Mine is the Log/Speedo S/D. I need to calibrate the keel offset . Anyone out there know how to do it?

I have Dataline X system and would love to know how to calibrate the wind direction on the wind indicator to point straight along the boat when head to wind. If I press "mode" and "alarm" I get into a set up region of the system with test and calibrate but I have no idea what it means. Any help welcome. This system appears to be obsolete so maybe we will have to upgrade!

Hi

Am in Guernesy hopefully on way to Brittany tomorrow. I have the instuction book for the Stowe system. However I am in the internet cafe with it not to hand. Will look at and try to text relevant info to John if his mobile is in the book.

By the way I have installed the new Parker keel manual block system as per the 235, which is much easier than the previous 275 system. The current system ends in a stop knot and has less friction.

Howver I nade the mistake of running into the beach at Bembridge on the way here - not winching the keel up first. This must have caused the bottom block to tilt over so when I tried to winch it up further the rope ran into the gap bewenn the sheave and the axle and I ended uo with keel jammed solid one quarter down.

After much swaearing and consultation from Nodey Parker I beached her and fortunatley the keel came up and also I had the original triple block which we managed to fit in the dark. Now all working touch wood.

Had good channel crossing to here and avoided strong winds in Guernsey harbour - this is getting rather long - so cheerio.

Sorted the depth offset this weekend. Many thanks for the info.

Also had a chance to try out the storm jib on the sharp beat home from the Ore yesterday. An interesting design. It's 8 years old, came with the boat and appeared never to have been out of the bag.

It is a "wraparound" design which hoists by sliding up over the rolled-up genoa. The "foil" which results is very efficient, and minimal luff tension is required because the luff is supported over its whole length. The "wraparound" fastens back on the sail using piston hanks onto webbing loops.

Mine is by Hyde, but looking on the net the design is available from many sailmakers.

Stupidly I didn't take any pictures, but I was a bit busy at the time!

I'm glad you sorted the Stowe calibration. I need to do something about my log which is under reading- probably barnacles - it read 67 miles for the trip yesterday from Diellette to Wootton Creek, which is somewhat short!

Your storm sail sounds interesting. I have a blade jib which I should use more but am always tempted to use the genny as it saves changing mid trip if the wind dies.

I'm sorted now too John thanks. Beeline was fantastic at Dartmouth Regatta in the light airs. I scrubbed her off before we left and with my new main we went like a rocket. Pity there wasn't much wind and we only got in two full races.
