Does a database that is accessible exist of the fleet, by name, owner, location ?

If not, this forum would be the ideal place to start one.

To kick off, I own Antar, built 1980, one of a few fixed keel versions. Power 10hp BUKH. Sail no 88.

Just repainted to dark blue hull with white superstructure.

Current berth: Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC)

I would attach a photo, but it appears that this is not an option ???

Yes there is a database but not visible to enyone but me and the Membership Secretary. Anyway all details of all SSA classes are in the annual Memership Handbook that all members of the SSA receive.

It is possible to attache a picture - look at the examples in the Testing Forum.

To do this you click on the Insert Picture button above and place the url of your picture in between the two HTML tags.

Most ISPs will provide web space for their members. If you haven't one the alternative is to post your pictures on a server that provides such a facility e.g. http://s8.photobucket.com/

Photobucket provides free video and photo sharing. Easily host and link your images and videos to social networks, auction sites, blogs, and message boards. Photobucket is reliable and very easy to use.

It's better this way as the SSA already pays a premium for the space the SSA web site occupies on the Mariner server. If members started posting pictures directly on the Forum the price would rise.

Please come back if you need any further help but I suggest you read through the test messages as we have been through this process.

As regards to a fixed keel super seal 26. My boat was build in 1979 with sail number 12. It is berthed at Ballyronan marine on Lough Neagh, in Northern Ireland.

Don, Am I?

Richard,

I take it that yours (name?) is a fixed keel ??!

I understand that very few were made. I believe that 4 came out here to the Gulf Circa 1980

Three are still known, mine Antar (an Arab Poet /Warrior), Zeta (his horse), here in Dubai, and Scimitar (his sword).

Any information is gratefully received.

She is my first boat and I am so impressed with her.

She is the w***e of Dubai, as it appears that nearly everyone has had her at some stage.

Hope this link works

Peter,

I have been using forums for a long time and a lot of people have problems posting pictures..

The dark blue looks very nice....but does it not get hot down below in the sun.

Actually - I thought your method best as we could see a series of pictures of your boats, Anyway - if you look through the postings on the Test Forum you will see how to post your pictures.

I painted it in November. It may get hotter, but when its 40+ in the summer, you don't spend much time below.

It does look very nice....My last boat was 36 years old and the gel coat looked a bit faded but I never dared paint it...

Re 'Am I?' - actually your not. I confused you with another member; so I endorse Paul's rather brusque response. (Sorry Paul)

Don,

I have the form, but I note that the association is confined to "lift keel yachts", which I suppose limits me to Associate membership which I would assume is at a discounted rate.

Nevertheless, I will send the form, and a cheque for the membership and a burgee, and then I can feel better, belonging !

Hi John

let me know when you are in the new forest

"Cleo" ( superseal 26 Number 21) moored on The Hamble river

perhaps we can fit in a rally when you are here

Peter,

Checked out the photo of Cleo. Should you be walking around the deck without being clipped on ?

I usually do the New Forest in the last week of July, before moving up to N Wales on our "Granny hopping" tour of the UK (Any Seals there ?)

We nearly always have a pub supper at Bucklers Hard while in the Forest. Certainly did last time. A pint, or three, and a natter would be most enjoyable

My main mission, whilst in the area, is to visit chandlers and blow cash on unnecessary boaty paraphernalia which, while in the holiday mood, are all more than justified.

How long have you ownedd Cleo? What type of engine?

John
