I have been having a 'go' at the chainplates after the surveyor spotted rusty stains around them where they bolt to the bulkheads below deck. Its pretty obvious that there have been some leaks where the plates penetrate the deck. I have the plates off, now, and have two problems. Firstly, the plywood core in the deck is sodden with water. How can I dry it out? Secondly, the inside of the hull is covered with what looks like a stick-on vinyl foam material. This material also covers the two mini-bulkheads that carry the after lower shroud chainplates. The vinyl material is now stained with rust. Any ideas as to where I can I obtain some new material?
