We are planning to spend two weeks cruising the Solent Area starting mid - August. We are looking for a good slipway from which to launch. being from Yorkshire, we are not very familiar with the area. We are thinking of using Chichester Marina because it it is within the locked marina basin and therefor has no tide. We would prefer to launch some where that has a pontoon at the side of the slip. Can any one offer any info ?

Many thanks

Graham, the Aug Sailing Today has an article on slipways west of Portsmouth ... not sure if they come in your category ... may be worth a look. Chris.

Graham... having used Chichester Marina since Sept last year initially on a dry berth and now a wet one, we find this Marina ideal for reasonably easy access to the solent. The slip is fine and has a pontoon.
Premier marinas have also invested in good cctv and security this year, so your trailer should be secure!.
The only nigle we have using this location is the hour or so sail to Chichester bar!

Many thanks for this information. It is just what we were hoping to here. We have revised our plans to commence on the 13th August for two weeks, instead of the 8th. It would br nice to talk to another 235 owner and say thanks for the information. Please let my know if you would like to say hello.

Many thanks
