Anti-foul immersion times

Having collected our new 235 from Parkers on 11 January we will not be puting it on our swinging mooring in Tobermory till at least March when the winter weather abates. The antifoul says it needs immersing within one to three months, depending on application temperature. What actually happens if we go beyond this - does it just fail to work, or fail to erode, or peel off, or what? Anyone know?[?]

Parkers use Trilux which is not a eroding antifoul....it is a hard antifoul...

It won't peel off either...

I had this problem with mine..

That was 11 months in a tidal river.

You could add another coat a week or so before you launch !!!

I guess you would be best to put it in and after a couple of months pull it out for a scrub....

Hi Stephen,

International recommend high pressure washing or polishing the hull with fine wet/dry to reactivate the antifoul if immersion times are exceeded.

I've had good experience using international's Micron extra, a self polishing antifoul.

One problem of anti-fouling too early is that should it rain, as the water runs under the boat the fouling starts to degrade as if it was immersed in the water. I should leave it until a short time before you intend to put the boat in the water.

Thanks all - yes, the point is that the anti-foul was don prior to collection. I think I'm ok though, Parkers used International Interspeed Ultra (I have the remains of the can) and it says that if application temperature is under 15 degrees you have 3 months to immerse it (between 15 and 25 it is two months). As it was put on in December the factory will not have been that hot so I should be okay until March-ish....I'll check with International too. Can't do much about the rain streaks though!
