UPDATE 30/07/21

We now don't plan to be there untill Saturday morning, due to waiting for the storm to pass. I assume many others will sniff the air on Saturday morning, and decide to come or not come. You don't need to email me, as there is no reserving of places in Newtown (except for sharing a buoy which a PSSA has nabbed) and the nibbles and sangria are already made. If you cann't make it, will just be more for the rest of us.

Hope to see as many as possible

Jim Hamilton

I have talked to the Harbour Master, and we are OK to BBQ on the beach at the entrance (west side), with the normal caveats; BBQs on the pebbles; nothing to be left on the beach after we have gone;dogs on lead unfortunately (its a nature reserve); and maximum two boats per buoy.

Drinks and Nibbles provisionally between 5 and 6pm, please bring own 'glass' etc.

Propose running a 'best' pebble competition

  • Only one pebble per participant
  • Criteria will be a combination of beauty and unusualness: size will not count:
  • Method of judging to be finalised but probably : submit anonomously,

PS No numbers restrictions at present.

The PSSA is the class association for Parker and Seal lift keel yachts and other types of shallow draft yachts.
As an active, friendly club with almost 350 members, it organises rallies, social events and an annual race around the Isle of Wight.
Seals and Parkers are British-built yachts, ranging in length from 21' to 33', mostly with lifting keels. They started with the Seal 22 in 1970, built by John Baker, and followed by the Seal 28 and Super Seal 26. In 1981, Bill Parker took over the range and added the Parker 21, Parker 27 and Parker 31. These then evolved into a high-quality range of cruiser-racers built by Parker Lift-Keel Yachts - the trailable Parker 235, the Parker 285 and the Parker 335. In 2009, Parker Lift-Keel yachts ceased trading.
