HW Portsmouth 21:17
We return to the Beaulieu River after the amazing 50th Anniversary party at Bucklers Hard, for our regular visit to Timbrell’s Quay. We are very lucky that we can hold a rally at this idyllic location at the top of the river, only one other rally is permitted a year.
You will see that the tide is later than has been the norm for this event. It suits the majority these days who choose to arrive on the morning tide to get a whole the day at the quay and allows a later start on Sunday morning. We tried something similar four years ago and it was quite successful.
Access to the quay is possible 2½ hours either side of high water, but a rising tide is preferable. If you are arriving in the river on Friday evening, you might like to join others who usually congregate at the bottom for a pre rally get together.
The charge per boat is £10 again this year, a bargain. We will be collecting that, so remember to have the readies on you.
There is invariably a walk on offer on Saturday to the Master Builders and drinks will get under way on the quay at about 17.00 hours, followed by a diy barbeque of your choice.
Please let us know if you intend to come, by enrolling above, email, phone, text, Whatsapp, or maybe even maybe actually talking to us. So far we have the following boats coming:
Lesa
Nondikass
Nosey
Rascal
Solomon Seal
Sophia
Vol au Vent
and crews by road:
Frith
Indianna
Jans Express
Macoma
Nauti
Penlu
Ruby Star
Shockwave
Tara
Zephyr
Unusually for this event the weather is not going to be kind to us, but it does look like it will be dry on the day. We will bring a gazebo just in case. There are a lot of us now understandably coming by car. There's limited parking space on the road, so please could you use this space to load and unload your stuff and park your car in the public car park.
