The 2015 plan for Chichester is as follows :-

We will meet on the beach at East Head on Saturday pm for a barbecue in the evening. We can also practice boules or have the competition if it hasn’t already happened at Ryde. If too blowy from the North we may retreat to Chichester marina.

On Sunday the plan this year is to go up to Emsworth. We have spaces booked at Emsworth Yacht Harbour. They can only offer 10 spaces with a possibility of more depending on availibility. Another possibility is for some boats to go via the Thorney channel to Thornham Marina again, but we won’t know till nearer the time whether they will have space. So in short it will be a case of first come (ie fill in register form on web) first serve. We have booked into the Sussex Brewery for an evening meal. I trust I can organise!

Emsworth Yacht Harbour has a sill which we should be able to get over (keels up) about 2.5 hrs either side of high water.

Look forward to seeing you and let’s hope we get some good weather. Please let me know if you are attending as indicated above

High tide Portsmouth 1141 Sat, 1224 Sun, 1307 Mon

Hi All

We just had an excellent rally at Beaulieu - thanks Steve and Julie Roy. Now looking forward to the Chichester rally - forthcoming grand child allowing!

I currently have the following booked into Emsworth marina for the Sunday night:-

Speedwell

Tiptoe Too

Sophia

Penlu

Vol au vent

Zephyr

We only have 10 booked spaces at the marina so please let me know asap if you want to come. We might be able to fit in more either at Emsworth or Thornham marina, but this will be on spec. So get going on your bookings as it will be first come first serve!

For the meal at the Sussex Brewery (not far from the marina) I will need to pre book as I expect we may have quite a few people if last year is anything to go by. You can choose anything from the menu see :- http://www.sussexbrewery.co.uk/menu/. I have also tried to attach it plus a letter to me with details of sausage choices! I need to know your choices asap and definitely by 26th Aug.

No problem Saturday - last year we had 19 boats at East Head for a barbecue - can we beat that!

Thanks

Tim

Hi I have put together a summary of the Chichester rally which was great fun. Look at the gallery for photos.

Chichester Rally August Bank Holiday 2015

Chichester again proved to be a memorable rally. Despite the forecast we had a good turnout.

We had 11 boats on the beach at East Head plus one crew by bicycle. When we arrived all was well with the weather, but whilst the wind was no problem, the rain was intense by the time beach activities were planned. Fortunately I had looked at the forecast and brought a gazebo which was erected successfully given the lack of wind. This proved a great success in allowing drinks and nibbles to proceed with the usual enthusiasm. The pictures on the gallery are quite amusing – how many sailors can you fit into 100 square feet! However we beat a retreat to the boats for eating – the rain just did not relent.

Sunday dawned in a more promising fashion but again without much wind. After the usual beach amblings and discussions we set off to Emsworth marina where eventually 8 boats squeezed onto the visitors pontoon. The marina staff were very welcoming and we had an enjoyable afternoon sampling the delights of this old town. In the evening we gathered in the Sussex brewery, which is actually a pub. We had 23 people sit down for an excellent meal mainly centred around sausages. It was amazing how much noise the Seals can make when enjoying themselves. A great time was had by all.

In the morning the rain returned again but was fairly light when all left for their home ports. One year we will get a really good bank holiday weather wise to reward us all for turning out in rather variable conditions over the last few.

Boats attending :-

Speedwell, Heart of Glass, Rascal, Avocet, Shemar, Sophia, Penlu, Zephyr, Frith, Delphine, Baldur, Lesa, Betty Blue, Many Moons

By Car / foot :-

Summer wine, Amy, Baldur
