Members are often asking me for the names of firms who would be capable of making stainless steel things from patterns or sketches. For example replacement pulpits or 28 rudder skeg pintles. I have been recommending Prout Engineering of Canvey Island but I've not had any recent experience of the quality of their work or their willingness to do the sort of one-off job that we often need.

Any recent experience would be useful to me for helping individual enquirers both on the phone or e-mail

I can recommend FUSION at Lymington. I bent my Pushpit in a colision, not the easiest thing to get back into shape. FUSION did this in such a way as I couldn't tell it had been damaged.

I also had some work done on mu stainless steel rudder stock - first rate job.

The Contact is Paul Day, Tel: 01590 670708.

Geoff - hope this isn't too late to be of use.

We sail out of Gosport and have found Kim Roberts of Roberts Welding and Fabrication to be first-class. He is located at the head of Fareham creek, phone 01329-289625. He is next door to a ss polisher, and also has access to machining facilities. Prices reasonable, workmanship excellent.
