We have a 2 piece perspex washboard in our companionway on a Parker 275. It is 10mm thick and the flocked rubber seal it runs in needs replacing. I am struggling to find a supplier (tried Eagle Boat Windows, Baines and Houdini) . Has anyone bought this item recently or can suggest who supplies it ? The rectangular channel it fits in is 16mm wide and 18mm deep.
Many thanks

Hi Graham

Houdini made the companionway components for the 325 and they supplied me a new length of flock and rubber channel and also the 'Windscreen wiper' (they call it) that makes the seal between the sliding hatch and the fixed one. I am 99% sure it was Houdini, but can't find the bill to prove it. I can't believe Parkers would have used a different supplier so it might be worth phoning them up and explaining.

Good luck

Hi Graham,

I struggled with this when refurbishing Avocet. The Houdini flock and rubber channel was prohibitively expensive for me and I ultimately used felt strips from COH Baines. I glued it in the channel with Evostick and 2 seasons down the line, it continues to work well.

Thanks - you were right - Houdini sold me the seals (flock channel and the wiper blade) I also replaced the perspex sliding hatch as it had broken corners (borough cut perspex online) - bit of a job to take it all out and replace but now done and no leaks so far!!
