I was at Carol and Phillip’s very enjoyable BBQ and was asked about the Isle of Wight Jazz Weekend. I’m helping to organise that, so I’m afraid I can’t in all honesty organise this Rally. In previous years folks have managed pretty well themselves. I could perhaps try for Rally rates at Newport if enough people enroll. The dates - 16-20 September - seem clear so far, but as it runs over 5 days people don’t need to stay for all of it.

I couldn't find out how to start a calendar entry for the even. If anyone could tell me or just create one please that would be appreciated.. Many thanks, John Clack, Nosey 325-26

Description:

The annual Isle of Wight Jazz Weekend is a popular event with members and is well attended. Newport Town Quay is well placed for all the venues, none of which are more that 10 minutes walk away. Some are on the Quay!

There is lots of information on the Jazz weekend web site - at the moment just the headline acts are listed, but there will be lots of ‘fringe’ gigs announced nearer the time.

Attached is a very draft flyer - it’s designed to be printed back to back on A5 paper and folded in half. Things will change, so keep checking the web site!

Times at the Folly Inn are Wednesday 16 September 1520 (3.9m) moving on to multiple neaps on Sunday 20 September of 0630 (3.2m), 1900 (3.2m). Newport Harbour just says expect 1.8m average - average MHWN?
