I've just experienced the keel motor locking on whilst lifting. Battery switch to "off" and a thump on the relay produced a "click". All is now functioning normally but I want to change out the relay in case the contacts are damaged. The original manufacturer, Camdec Corp, appears to be long gone and Trombetta has some equivalents but nothing exact. This is the closest I can find to Camdec 98290-WR and so far there is nothing in the UK. the original is 12V, 80% duty and unspecified current. I am assuming ~120A when the keel is lifting from an earlier post by Martin H.

Has anyone had trouble with or replaced the Camdec unit originally fitted? Any help would be much appreciated.

We have an ammeter on the switch panel which reads about 115A as the keel comes up. Our hydraulic power pack is 1600w so the theoretical current is 133A.

I strongly suspect that almost any 12v 200A relay would do - such as Durite 0-727-09, but I have no direct experience to offer. If you prefer something in a metal case, then something marketed as a 12v 200A solenoid would be a good bet.

Thanks Martin, you've confirmed my thinking. I'll see if I can find a similar form factor and post the result.
