Paul

You could consider Bucklers Hard on Beaulieu River where we have 5*235s and 3*21 who launch there.

I think the cost to park and launch is £16 with £5 for each additional day.

Contact the Harbourmaster on 01590 616200 to confirm cost and to gain access through the gate.

Look up SO42 7XB on Streetmap.

We were in Dorset last year and spent a day at Bucklers hard..

So I take it there would be few boats going from Bucklers Hard !! Which would be usful to show us the way, as it were.

That's about the same as my timetable for the race and I have to make it work from Christchurch!

Having said that, last year we did the same and my crew had to go back by ferry and bus as he had a plane to catch on the Monday and it blew a hooley on the Sunday.

For sure Clifford Miller (the PSSA Commodore) who keeps his 275 at Bucklers Hard, will be racing.

Not sure about any of the Trailer Sailors.

The picture was from the May 2006 issue where there was an article on Beaulieu River.

Not sure how many boats took place in last years RIOW race; I'm sure one of the other contributors, who did race, will respond.

Actually - the race did not complete a circuit of the IOW due to the strong winds. It took place only within the Solent, but even then a number of boats had sails blown out.

I have contacted the owners at Bucklers Hard and of the 235ers I know Peter Scrivens (Zephyr) and Jim Hamilton (Sandy Lady) are intending to race. Others are still considering.

Last year we had 9 racing 2x21, 1x22, 1x235, 1x26, 1x28, 1x275, 1x325 and 1x335. It was reported in newsletter 2006/03. I thought it was a good day to be in a 335!
