Hull and underwater
In 2020 the hull below waterline was stripped back to its foundation layer (VC Epoxy Tar) which was probably applied in the early 90’s. This was found to be in excellent condition. A further coat was applied, followed by Cruiser VC antifouling. The Cast iron keel was soap-blasted and similarly coated. The fin was lifted out, soap-blasted and coated, whilst the lifting mechanism was fully dismantled and serviced.
During recent winters the boat has been stored ashore, the hull re-antifouled, and the anode replaced. Some remedial work was carried out on the stern keel extension in 2022/23 (non-structural) to improve the hydrodynamics. In 2023/24 Seal Magna was stored afloat in the James Watt Dock to enable winter sailing.
The hull above water has been inspected, received attention to gel-coat scratches and chips as necessary, and cleaned and polished.
