I had questioned my sanity launching on Good Friday, & undertaking engine trials on my new engine in the worst 40 minutes weather of the Easter weekend.

However Saturday was an absolute knockout.

After inspecting the Deben entrance on the rising tide I ran gently back upriver with the sun on my back under a cloudless blue sky, bottle of Broadside in hand.

Overhead I heard the snarl of a Merlin engine, and I was able to watch our "local" Spitfire diving, climbing and rolling against the horizon. Nearer at hand over the marshes a Hen Harrier floated and turned.

Idyllic!

Will there be a better day this year?

We shall have to wait and see.
