Sailing up the Tyne last Sunday there was a decent ingress of water which on inspection turned out that the water lock had blown. The water stopped coming in when the engine was stopped, the engine bilge was full and the deck covers were awash. This meant a tidy bit of sailing on to royal quays marina at the head of the Tyne. The wind was a westerly force 4 to 5. Royal quays has westerly entrance so sailing as close as possible we contacted them for a tow, which they did and executed an emergency lift out into the boatyard. It was a bit earlier than I had planned but I was there now, so the hull was washed and scraped and repainted. The water lock was changed, new stern gland, engine overhauled and a full survey carried out. Been a very hectic week with most of the work done by yours truly. 'whisperer' is now looking fab. Putting her back in the water on Monday and sailing her to her new berth at Sunderland yacht club. A new start??.?.?..??
