the shaft on rascal (26 with inboard engine) runs hot at the stern gland, about 50-60 degrees C. This is a new replacement to a previous one that did the same.

Can anyone with an inboard please feel the shaft at the gland, when running, and post the result please?

Up to about 45/50 degrees you can keep a finger in place for a few seconds, above 60 you will instantly remove contact.

Some stern glands are rated to run up to 80 degrees, so I may be worrying about nothing.
