Any snow on the Isle of Mull? Bill tells me you are picking your new boat up on the 12th Jan. This is going to be quite a tow. Look forward to an article about it for the On-Line Magazine page of the SSA web site.

Bill is calling in to see me over the Christmas period. He tells me his his order book for 235s just keeps expanding. He seems to have a winner here.

I'll now get back to completing the Christmas edition of the Marine Crossword for the SSA web site. Baking has been postponed until tomorrow morning.

No snow here on Mull - actually really warm at 7 degrees, though wet, which is nothing new!

We collect our boat on 11th Jan (I hope the 12th was a typo - please tell Bill it's the 11th otherwise ferries and hotels are all wrong!) and I'll endeavour to record the journey back in photo and print - it will be 200 miles to Carlisle on the 11th, completing the journey of another 250 miles on the 12th, via two ferries...it can make for dramatic photos in Glencoe provided one can find the motivation to stop and get out to take them!

All the best for Christmas, I'm going to light the fire and read victualling lists with a sherry...just need a mince pie....?!

Small Bus to mid Yell

Smaller Bus to top of Yell

Ferry to Unst

People carrier to Baltasound

Van to RAF Saxa Vord north Unst

2 hours daylight this time of year

24 hours daylight in the Summer.

Not able to pick up TV then either, though I did take my life in my hands dinghy sailing in the freezing waters.

wow, I am humbled Don...makes our trip seem very easy!!

Don't know how we'd manage without TV, or the internet which allows us to both shop and sell - Ebay alone has financed our new boat trailer this year through sales of what is technically junk but valuable to someone. I've sold everytning from old MGB parts to Biggles anthologies!

Attached should be a picture of our last boat in Tobermory - sorry about the engine / lack of a mast, but it was a sprat to catch a mackerel - I needed to get Berenice to gain confidence on the water before adding a heeling over element!

You seem to have cracked the posting of pictures but is one missing as I see what looks like a missing link?

I am interested in your experience of getting to grips with the Parker. I am experienced at sailing having sailed numerous dinghy classes ranging from cadets to international 14's however concentrating on National 12's. I did have also a wide range of team racing experience including racing at Rydall School with some old buoys. Sailing also encompassed windsurfing, especially on Sailboard Sports, of which I sold to an old sea dog who headed off into the distance at Foremarke Resevoir.

Please advise on your sailing experience, particularly on the Trent, from which I cant remember alot of!

But welcome....I sailing from Boston, up the east coast, down the Humber, into the Trent, Fosdyke navigation, Lincoln and back to Boston down the Witham.. It was a about 4-5 years ago now..

We stopped at West Stockwith on the Trent and they were a very friendly bunch..They have a lovley yacht basin and good club house...with a cheap bar..!!!!

As I remember it, he was a very average Nat 12 sailor, and sold dud windsurfers. And Salcombe Week - well, another story!![:o)]
