Bags packed , boat packed and hooked on the car...

In about an hour (when the house sitter gets here) we are heading off to Brixham for 9 days...

Not looking forward to the 280 mile drive.

Will post when we get back....

We are back.....but the boat isn't.

The weather was not great, force 6 most days....didn't really get very far.....

So we decided to leave the boat on the south coast for a few weeks until we can get back and hopefully some better weather.

After lots of ringing round we have left the boat at Hythe on the Solent.(ashore)

We plan to go back in mid July for 10 days.....Looking at the charts now for inspiration on where to go.

Have seen that there is a trip to Studland on the bank holiday. We really want to go to Studland, after spending several years dinghy sailing from the beach. BUT we need to be on our way home on the bank holiday Monday or the Tuesday.

We rang Cobbs quay and the wanted very silly money and over £40 each use of the slipway.

Bucklers hard were full due to a summer lift out deal going on.

I guess we don't have to launch at Hythe...!!!!

Any suggestions

Hi Paul,

Have you thought of Chichester Marina ? I know it is a bit further East than the area you are looking at, but the facilities for trailer sailors are excellent. You launch into the locked marina, so no tides or time restrictions. There is a pontoon on the slipway to make life easier, water hose and outboard flush tank for cleaning down on recovery. The marina has top class toilet and showers etc. The prices are very reasonable, slipway charges are £19.00 for launch and recovery, trailer storage is £5.75 per week, there is no charge for car parking. Berthing is about £14.00 - £17.00 per night all in. All this in a beautiful rural setting with plenty of rigging space.

The draw back is you have a 45 minute motor up the river and have to cross the bar. But if you time your exit right, you will not even notice it.

I have based our summer cruise there for the last two years and we are doing the same again this year, starting 10th August. There will be four boats this year.

They have a web site, just search for Premier Marinas and select Chichester Marina.

Hope this is helpful

Hi Paul

Mercury marina (MBL)on the Hamble have a slip at "Badnams creek" it is very sheltered and they charge i believe about £20 to launch.

Theres also have enough room to park etc

If you are still on the south coast on the 4th Aug

i am in the process of trying to write a programme for a weeks impromptu cruise where we will try to get to Weymouth but may only get as far as Studland or Poole harbour

so far we have about 5 or 6 boats showing interest

We on Cleo were planning to join the french cruise but with the weather being so unsettled and with 2 children we have made alternative arangements but wek comencing 4th is set aside o do some sailing

keep and eye on the web for details (later today hopefully )

Have emailed you, Paul. There are a few PSSA members at Hythe S C and we may be able to help. Unfortunately the club won't allow launching/recovery for non-members, but we do have a pontoon you can use.

Saw the weather forecast on Friday and loaded the car and headed south...

Moved the boat to Bucklers......had 3 days avoiding large racing fleets around the Solent.

Lady P in now in the boat yard at Bucklers , ready for us to come back in a couple of weeks time....

Anyone around Buckler over the next couple of weeks are welcome to go and give the hull a polish if you have a few minutes on your hands.
