I am a new owner of a 275, having upgraded from a Seal 26. The keel on the Seal was a doddle to raise, but being distinctly middle-aged, I find the manual hoist on the 275 knackers me. I have replaced all the blocks with Harken roller blocks (expensive), and greased the rollers and everything else I can find, but it is still hard work.
I am thinking of fitting an electric hoist. Can anyone advise me (a) whether it is easy/difficult to do this, and within the capability of a fairly competant DIY sailer, and (b) whether the Parker supplied electric winch is the one to go for.
Another thought: is it possible to make an electric windlass do both jobs - lift anchor and keel?
Any advice and experience welcome! Thanks. Tim Howard
