Hello Graham and Brenda
I too am very sad at the demise of Parkers and hence our range of boats. I must first say that I was not familiar with Parkers business situation but I do know they were not alone in loosing their order book . Several builders got into trouble because potential customers did not want to risk loosing their deposits if their chosen builder went bankrupt, so the situation became a self fufilling prophesy. At the same time brokers were reporting very good s sales volumes for secondhand boats. Anyone selling a PSSA boat knows that there is considerable demand for boats with the quality of sitting level on the sand and floating in minimum depths of water, however does this translate into a healthy demand at new boat prices ? we would need imput from the brokers and agents for new boats to answer that one.
As for resurrecting the 285 and 335, we are told the mould sets exist, but is there sufficient documentation to replicate the hulls to the required standards without having to repeat type approvals ?
Are there royalty issues in producing more hulls ?
We have a local builder who is getting his hulls moulded in Poland and a very good job they are making of it , gets you thinking doesn't it ?
Maybe we should start a new thread on this issue.
