Following a chat with Bill Parker, I can confirm that the 235 is back in production. Boat number 71 is in build at present with more to follow if demand is there. There is to be an advert in the next PBO to promote the relaunch. I think this is great news, please spread the word.

I would also confirm that a full list of spares and repairs are available for the 235. See web site AT bpsailboats.com or tel: 01205 311323 and contact Bruce Parker.

I thought it a pity not to see a P235 at the Southampton Boat Show. I dare say it's expensive to exhibit there but I wonder how well known the P235 is - especially among those new to sailing.

There aren't usually many small boats there but there were some this time. The closest 'rival' was the Storm 22, from Poland. While I welcomed seeing a trailer sailer at the show, it really didn't compare well with the 235 either in design or fit-out. The cost was less than a new 235, but not much less.

The few other trailer sailers also highlighted the P235's good value for money (they also appeared in last month's PBO magazine, in the article about the Bay Cruiser): the Hunter 20 is about £25k and there's much less boat for your money; even the Hawk 20 is about £23k. The Bay Cruiser, albeit pretty and an interesting design, costs more than the P235. And then there are the massively expensive - and slow! - Cornish Crabbers!

I can't help thinking the P235 would attract a lot of admirers if it were set alongside the competition at a boat show.

Has anyone else read the test of the (£27k) Storm 22 in PBO and thought "What about the Parker 235?" ?

Once again, the P235 didn't get a mention, even as one of the three alternatives to consider (in which the Sun 2000 appears again, as it always seems to when they test trailable boats).
