Hi all,

In my Seal 22 handbook, it states that one should set up the cap shrouds "bar tight". Ok, seems simple enough, but what is actually meant by bar tight? It seems to me that descriptives of that nature are somewhat open to interpretation, anybody got a more easily understood way of explaining how tight?

People generally (PBO forum) say don't tighten shrouds more than 20% of breaking strain. Others say that equates to 2mm stretch on 1m of wire. So - tape a 1m length of something to the slack shroud and mark where the bottom end of it comes to on the shroud. Then tighten till there's a 2mm gap between the metre and the mark. You'll have to do it on both sides at the same time and tighten in turn because the tension in one will affect the other.

You'll find that that feels far too tight so I usually chicken out at 1mm - if that!
