Hi

I was renewing my dyneema rope on the Strong Arm 5000 winch which i do every year without trouble.

On lowering the keel it suddenly stopped [ electrics?] with the rope bar tight.

I was able to put wooden blocks under the keel and use the clutch handle to release the load on the rope and rest the keel on the wood.

No power though so the circuit breaker must have operated [ overload but why?]

Does anyone know where the circuit breaker might be?

I have a Parker 285 No 70

Will i need a new one or can i' switch it back on'?

electrics not my strong point.

regards

charles

On my retro-fitted 275, the relay box is mounted high on the forward cockpit locker bulkhead. The buttons in the cockpit just handle control signals and the relay box switches the current to the winch. I haven't investigated whether there is current cut-out in the control box.

Good luck

There is a thermal cut out in the compartment at the back of the battery switch, remove the plate on the top of the bunk under upholstery next to the battery switch to gain access, Firstly check with a test lamp if you have 12v power at the winch.

The cut out should reset itself.

I have a fuse in my solenoid switch box in the cockpit locker. When this was loose it caused an intermittent fault. It only cut out when the boat was on a slope!
