I paint any rust stains on my 275 with the normal sort of paint you put on a keel (can let you know make). It comes through again after a bit but is not too bad.

I painted the rust spots with Kurust(Hammerite)about 6 years ago with no futher coating. Carpet went straight back. Still OK.
