Sunny spells are here at last and this is your cue to think barbecue. If you have not lit your barbecue so far this year now is your chance to put that right. When the weather is good, the most popular rally in the Solent area is the Beaulieu barbecue. Beaulieu is really "beau lieu" which means "nice place" in French, so if you have not visited before come and discover what you have been missing. Bring your food, wine, blanket, tables and chairs and spread them over the grassy area that is Timbrell's Quay at the top of the navigable Beaulieu River. High water is at 1730 (I'm told). We'll dry out at low water and an advance party will remove any stones to ensure your bottom will be comfortable sitting in silky smooth mud. Well, almost. If you've not dried out before, there will be plenty of hands to assist you.
As this is the year of our 40th anniversary, do bring and hoist your dress flags and your battle flags.
There is no need to book or register. Just turn up. The berthing fee is £5.50 per yacht. Please bring cash. I will collect it from you on the day and hand it over to the harbour master on Sunday
If you attend by car, park in the Beaulieu Village car park then head for the Montague Arms. Pass down the side towards the fire station and you will see yachts on the left. Climb the gate and join in. The loos are in the village car park if you need them.
