I have decided to replace the old egg-box like foam lining the engine compartment with non-flammable acoustic foam. Currently there is no foam immediately above the engine and I wondered if there was a reason for this. Otherwise I will cut out a new piece to fill this space and hopefully reduce engine noise. Any comments appreciated.

We have just replaced the insulation on Alchemist. We used Maritex sound insulation 32mm, Maritex tape for all edges and high temperature contact adhesive to attach the insulation to the top of the engine compartment.
