  Have removed tiller and inspected. The failure has simply occurred on one of the laminated joins, therefore we are confident with a re-glue and some extra fixings it will be fine for the time being. Perhaps have a full removal and inspection at the end of the season.

  I would think it is repairable provided the laminates are not cracked – ie if it came sort of unglued. You would need to squeeze in a lot of Araldite and add two or 3 long screws or bolts going vertically down to pull it together.

  I had a similar problem with Tiptoe's tiller. I had one made up by the local chandler, Trafalgar Yacht Services. This was some time ago but the same guy, Dave Hardy, is still there. Let me know if you want me to contact him. Suggest you make a temporary one out of softwood for the interim so that the old one can be used as a pattern.

  . I have often thought it wise to carry a second tiller. I don't, but would like to. Vol-au-vent is on her second tiller but alas it came from Bill Parker so no more supply there. When I was investigation some time ago I learned
