I am trying to establish exactly when the first Super Seal was built. The book says 1978. If that is correct then the marquee will have it's fortieth anniversary next year.
I am also trying to find out who has owned one the longest and I suspect that it is Leslie and Eilean Mason with Dandy. I remember meeting them in Dandy in the Channel Islands in the early eighties and I think they had owned the boat for some years.
But maybe someone can correct me on both these issues?

What a good question Chris! The original sale agreement I have in the paperwork file for Tiptoe Too (SS26/6) is dated February 8th 1978 showing an anticipated delivery in May, so I guess she would have been "in build" early in 1978. Black Jack (SS26/4) is the only earlier example in the list in the Handbook; maybe Paul M might have the original bill of sale for her with a date?

Anyone know what became of ships 1, 2, 3 and 5?

So it's possible that the first were built late in 1977?

I have No 1 as simply "Number One", No 2 "Little Angel", No 3 "Night Flyer", No 4 "Black Jack", No 5 "Winter Dream". Those were from the old records kept by Denis Fastnedge and my card indexes which I have now passed on to Michael Mead.

It does look that way. I've had a nose around in the history section of the website and Page 21 of the Silver Jubilee booklet   seems to confirm that.

My Seal 'Missali' was built in 1978 but I have no idea of the the hull number.
