When sailing the vertical pump whale taps leak water out into the sink and basin. Seems to by siphoning when we heal. Any ideas how to fix ? Do the water pipes need a large loop upwards ?

Thanks

Hi Graham,

I have a similar problem and just assumed it was old-age - the boat that is - but clearly not.

It will be interesting to see if anybody has a solution.

I asked someone at Whale and they said...

'An anti-syphon loop will not help when located on the pump inlet, the pump will suck air through the valve.

I would not expect the V pump to syphon as it has cup seals. If the seals are poor then water may trickle out with this installation. It might be an idea to replace the seals.

The only other things I can think of would be to either put a pinhole at the top of the loop which should break the syphon or to place a flow restriction valve in the pipe.'

I've replaced the seals and did notice the pumps feels more sealed, but I've not put it to the test in the sea - launching on 23rd April.
