Hi all, new to the site and new owner of a Seal 28.
I need to replace the engine mounts on my Yanmar 2gm and was after s bit of advice.
As I'm new to owning a boat with an inboard engine I'm not sure if it is possible to lift the engine just enough to remove and replace the mounts or if it's an engine out job.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there, welcome to the site. Congratulations on the seal 28! Great boat! Although i am bias :)

I've had no official training as such, but on my last boat, i propped up each corner to take the weight off whilst i changed each mount individually. There are some very elaborate methods to make sure your gearbox lines up with and angled correctly to the propeller shaft. This is very important so make sure it's done correctly. Any error and you risk vibration at the very least, which can also cause other failures to occur.

Good luck,

Lee

I have a set of engine mounts for a 1gm, I believe they are the same very lightly used and removed when changed engines 18 months ago.

Thanks for the advice.

Paul, how much for the mounts? Are you able to post them as well depending on where you are?
