Hi, everybody

I am actually in touch to buy a Parker 31 (1989).

She has a hydraulic problem and the keel don't go up anymore (pipe problem).

Can you confirm me that if we safely heel the boat with a crane and put her carefully on the dry on her keel, it will go up without problem ?

Thanks,

Jean-Philippe.

Hi Jean-Philippe,

I do NOT think you should do that! I think it would damage the keel as the boat may push forward or backward on the keel and damage the front or back edge. I suggest that you have the boat put on a high cradle so that the keel does not quite touch the ground. Then you or your hydraulic technician can work on the hydraulic system and put in the new pipe. When the hydraulics are working, you can then lift the keel. When you lift the keel when the boat is on the cradle I suggest you spray some water on the front edge of the keel where it enters the boat. This is for lubrication to reduce wear at that point.
