Hello everybody,

I would like to introduce us, my wife Thea and myself as the new owners of Lyra II

Since it is our first Lyra we will let go the "II"

We are in the Netherlands and plan to come over in May to do some work on her and then sail her home.

In preparation a lot of questions are coming up, most of them are answered already on this forum.

Can someone tell me if I need metrical wrenches or the english version, for tinkering on the yanmar engine?

We are looking forward to an occasion to meet Parker enthousiasts; untill then!

Regards,

Jos

Hi Jo's. Welcome to the association. My 2GM is quite happy with metric spanners. So is everything else on the boat. Where is the boat now? Pat Morgan P31 Phun

Thank you Pat,

She's in Poole now, getting launched in a few weeks; we still have to find a berth or mooring for her to stay.

Welcome Lyra to the Parker 31- Jos

Chris Day , Sula , mentioned he met you in the Netherlands

We love our boat Pegasus

We have had her 8 years and she is such a special boat for us . So versatile and comfortable and fast

on another note .

This year we had the Keel taken out and detached from the bulb to do some repairs on the stern edge of keel . Upsons noticed that there was an electrolysis issue with the attachment of the hydraulic cables that needed replacement and also the centre square compartment that goes through the keel was corroded . It was made from galvanised iron with no obvious sacrificial anode . . Pretty difficult to see unless keel is removed . I think we were a whisker away form not being able to raise the keel because the whole thing not being attached -see photo

Our boat was built in 1990 and is no 30 ---I think it might be opportune to check out the keel lifting mechanism to make sure that it is ok on your boat when next on land

we have now had a new tube and attachment fabricated by some metal workers in Leiston and Upsons boatyard are sorting it out for us

. You will notice new metal work is still galvanised iron but we will have a sacrificial anode next to new metal work hopefully to stop same problems -- Happy days . we hope to back in the water in a week
