Hi all,
We have just fitted some stern seats (commonly referred to as 'bimbo' seats) on our 275s. We have had temporary ones on for about 2 years! We are both farily short so often used to stand up to helm. They are not comfortable when close to the wind but ok at most other times. Is anyone interested in seeing a photo? Has anyone else done this?

Hi Linda

Just to add to this discussion (though my boat is a 325)- here is a less obtrusive but effective alternative - i.e. a pair of hardwood Pushpit Seats. Looks unsafe but are fine if you hold on to the backstay (It's often a place people sit in any case - just makes it a lot more comfortable)

Sorry it's a poor picture but it wasn't taken to show off the seats - part of a much larger picture.

I cannot claim credit for this idea as they were on the boat when I bought it - but I would fit same on any new boat.

Hello Linda, nice work! I look forward to seeing your seats close up. Unfortunately your bimbo seats would turn into bambino seats on Vol-au-vent, then I'd have nowhere to dangle my outboard motor. Do you carry an outboard for your dinghy, and if yes, is there still room elsewhere or does it go in your locker? Cheers-Ken

Hi Ken,
No we don't carry an outboard at all. We have shallow cockpit locker so probably would not fit outboard in there either.
Kev is now working on a bow seat just in front of the forestay.
We have kept the old 'temporary' seat in case anyone wants a pattern.
We are so enjoying the sailing we've been in a couple a weeks now.
Hopefully see some of you over the summer.
