I entered the Azores to Newport Rhode Island solo 2 years ago; so I am updating you.Last time I entered in a 30ft Figaro, which is deep keel and water ballasted. I had a 200 mile lead when on the 7th day (nearly 1000 miles into Atlantic) I hit the Mother of all storms got damage and very much shaken so I retired to Plymouth.
I have always had shallow draft boats, starting with catamarans, then a series of lift keels including a Superseal (Foca), a 275 (Indiana) and now a 31 called Muffin.
I left the Crouch solo lunch time on Saturday and sailed non-stop to Plymouth arriving in less than 48 hrs. Quite a good trip, but very cold. She is now on station for the start of the Jester to the Azores starting Sun 27th May.
I entered the same event 4 years ago and out of 45 starters I was 3rd monohull in an uncompetitive Kelt.
There has never been a Parker enter a Jester Challenge before and I thought some of the Members might be interested in a Parker progress.
All being well, his position will be tracked here: http://share.findmespot....xn8VPheu8rcEXjpZhAU6Fbcq

I'm sure we all wish him the best of luck - and no storms this time!
