This weekend I have started experiencing problems with the pressurised fresh water system. It appears that the pressure sensor on the end of the shurflo pump is faulty and only starts the pump with a hefty tap from something heavy!
Without taking the pump out I am unsure which model of shurflo pump it is? Has anybody renewed or got bits for these pumps on a 275 recently. Leisure Accessories ltd named in the manual appears to be no more. There are several firms offering pumps but I would be interest in others experiences.
PS first year with my 275 and enjoying it. Racing going really well see PEYC and FYCA results.

Hello Andrew,

As a former marine industry water pump specialist, I can offer the following info which may be of assistance:

Leisure Accessories were Shurflo's sole UK distributor for many years, but lost their distributorship some years ago.

http://www.shurflo-original.com/  & follow Contacts link to Pentair in Belgium [Pentair group owns Shurflo].

Simplest remedy is to just replace the pressure switch assembly - to do this will require you to read the full model number from the label so as to get both the correct style of switch and the same cut-off pressure [Shurflo pressure switches came in high or low cut-off pressures].

Replacing the pump with another reputable brand [Jabsco/Flojet/Whale] will result in different fixing holes & an almost certain need to alter pipe runs and/or connections, in addition to which you need to roughly match the cut-off pressure of your existing pressure switch so you will still need to check that from the label of your existing pump.

sincerely

Thanks Geoff most helpful. Been down at the boat tonight and got all the details. It is a Aquaking Standard 2.33imp gals max shut off pressure 1.41bar or 20psi 12vdc 10amp slow blow fuse at 3.9amps.
After a bit of detective work it appears the electric motor is on its way out. Probably brushes as it only runs spasmodically. Looks like a new pump as I doubt the brushes are replaceable.
While testing had the classic do I put finger in diaphragm to stop water flood or go and get bucket and sponge. Chose latter and flooded the quarter berth with a fair bit of pressurised water!
The joys of boating!
Thanks again.

Andrew

To the best of my knowledge, neither Shurflo nor any other manufacturer uses motors with replaceable brushes, so, if motor runs erratically when power is directly applied [bypassing the pressure switch], it's time for a new pump [it's not cost effective to replace the motor].
