Hi all,
I felt it was pertinent to let all Parker owners know of my experience, having had a forestay fitting failure last October.
the fitting in question was the forestay termination at the mast.
The fitting known as a stem ball eye ,it is a piece of 12mm stainless as fitted to zspars masts of the period. The rigging had been replaced 3 winters before,it would appear that the stem ball eye fitting was not.
luckily I did not lose the rig ,although it was kept vertical for a short period by a very taught jib,it was relieved of this duty by the spinnaker halyard and later backed up by the main halyard made off to the stem fitting on the bow.
If you have your mast down this season I would heartily recommend an inspection.
Unfortunately I've been unable to post a picture of the piece.
Regards
Paul Reymond
